The Project Bed-PC was born as my father brought home some old PC's he didn't need
>>pic>>. I grabbed and disassembled them, laid all parts in a row and while selecting the "best" parts [the PC's were not the newest...] I placed them side by side and connected them outside any case.
I plugged in a Monitor and a Keyboard and to my astonishment it run quite well and I decided to make something of it. I always wanted a second PC on my bedside to chat or surf while lying in bed, so I tried and tried and in the end managed to place all items in the deeper regions of my nightstand and behind it.

I disassembled also the cover plates of the ISA and PCI Cards
>>pic>> to save some space because there is no case to fix it on anyhow. The hardest challenge was to place the CD-Rom[s] and HDDs near enough to the Mainboard so that the Data-cables are yet long enough.
I had to create a new construction to place all power keys and Case-LEDs on it, but that was in the end very easy because I just took a little piece of wood and screw everything on it.

At the beginning, I had no working Internet-Connection, because I had no Cable that was long enough and I had no Soundcard and only an old 4MB Matrox Mystique, but in the meantime I can surf and chat because I managed to connect two RJ-45 Cables and I installed a Soundcard and replaced the Matrox Mystique with a Voodoo Banshee 16 MB, so now I can do [nearly] all that I wanted with the Bed PC.

There were also some other technical updates, such as a second CD-Rom-Drive
<<pic<<, so that I can leave the CDs of my two favourite PC-Games always in the Drives and don't have to change every time. I have also a second HDD now because the first had only 1 GB and that space didn't last very long.
I also put some foam plastic [ that I also use in the
Project silent-PC; I took it out of a gymnastic mat that I got from my school ] around the single pieces to silence it a little to be able to sleep very well while the PC is still turned on.

The last update was a new monitor and a "new" keyboard. The monitor has a better image quality, so that I can look at it longer and play and chat all night through. The "new" silent and flat keyboard is a project for itself and can be viewed in the tech
keyboard-project area.
